Microneedling

Microneedling

How does microneedling work?

Microneedling is a treatment our Advanced Medical Aesthetics Practitioner specialises in, she uses a handheld device to create hundreds of microscopic needle impressions in the skin on the face or body. As the treatment pen is passed over the face, it creates microinjuries and prompts the derma, a deeper layer of skin, to mount a healing response, delivering a natural collagen boost. The tiny channels in the skin made by the needles also allows for deeper absorption of topical treatments after treatment.

What is microneedling good for?

As well as general rejuvenation, microneedling is an effective treatment a range of different skin concerns, such as:

  • Decreased skin elasticity
  • Enlarged pores
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sundamage
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Acne scars

How often can I have microneedling done?

Microneedling is recommended as a course of treatments, rather than a one off, to ensure consistently good results. We recommend leaving 6-8 weeks between treatments. Ask our medical practitioner how often they would recommend based on your individual skin type.

Does microneedling hurt?

Microneedling might sound like it should be very painful but in reality most people only experience slight discomfort. The needles used in the procedure are very small and the wounds are extremely shallow, meaning you'll feel very little and the wounds heal quickly. It is this healing effect that gives your skin the vital collagen boost that causes the rejuvenated skin and reduced imperfections.
